Eurovision Song Contest
International Exhibition Centre (15 Brovarskoy Ave.)
This year Ukraine is very happy to host the 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in the International Exhibition Centre in Kiev following Ukraine’s victory at the 2016 contest in Stockholm with the song “1944” by Jamala. Ukraine recently became the first Eastern European country to win the contest twice (2004 and 2016). The Eurovision Song Contest 2017 consists of two semi-finals on 9 and 11 May and the final on 13 May 2017.
The theme for the 2017 contest would be “Celebrate Diversity”, as the executive Jon Ola Sand explained “The notion of celebrating diversity is at the heart of Eurovision values: it is all-inclusive and all about countries around Europe, and beyond, joining together to celebrate both our common ground and our unique differences, as well as some great music.” You may also notice the main logo of the event – beautifully stylized beads that form a traditional neck amulet.
Overall, approximately 20,000 foreign tourists and 2-3 times more domestic ones are expected to arrive in Kyiv in this period and they will be offered a comprehensive entertainment program (see the details below).
Red carpet: the official Eurovision opening ceremony (5 pm)
Constitution Square and the alley near the Mariyinsky Palace
43 official delegations will start their pass from Hrushevskoho Str. passing the Verkhovna Rada and Mariyinsky Palace to the observation deck. The red carpet will be of record length – 265 meters. Then the official part of the ceremony will be continued at CEC Parkovy.
Euroclub (8pm – 04am)

Euroclub is a venue open for Eurovision accredited fans, delegations, and press where numerous private parties and after parties, full rehearsals, and performances by participants will be conducted. On May 07 an official opening ceremony of the Eurovision Song Contest will be held here so that you may enjoy the performances of Jamala, Ruslana, Oleg Skrypka and the group “Druha Rika”.
Khreshchatyk Str. (from Prorizna Str. to Bohdana Khmelnytskoho Str.)
Eurovision Village is the official festival area in Kiev during Eurovision Song Contest 2017 where all three live shows (two semi-finals and the grand final) will be broadcasted from the huge screen. Besides, it is a great place to enjoy the performances of artists, DJs, celebrate national holidays, and just feel that strong international atmosphere! The entrance is free of charge and open for everyone.

Fan Zone on Sofiivska square can host around 10 thousand visitors and will be divided into such equipped areas:cultural, entertainment, art, recreation, information zones and lots of food courts.

Entertainment Zone on Troitska Square
Be ready to learn much more about the national music with different performances of jazz musicians and folk groups; national theater, and overall unique Ukrainian culture in the entertainment zone on Troitska Square. Here everyone interested can visit zone of master classes, kids activities, exhibitions, food courts, photo zones, and tourist information center.

Cultural and artistic project “Feel Ukraine” will be held on Kontraktova Square. Here all tourists and Kiev citizens can visit exhibitions, the performances of artists, and watch video films. Every day will be dedicated to a specific topic: jazz day, the day of craftsmen, Ukrainian literature day, fine art day, costume and jewelry day, etc.

Retrospective cultural and art project will be staged on Poshtova Square. Come here for karaoke festival where you will have an opportunity to learn more about the history of Eurovision Song Contest and participate in karaoke singing competition. The program of the international art festival in Kiev Art Gallery Lavra includes: the exhibition “Amazing confusion”, special project of the Foundation “Anti-AIDS” – Kissing Does not Kill, video installation of Yevgeny Chernyshov, media installation of art group “Tenpoint”, performances of the modern Ukrainian theater, famous musicians and representatives of the alternative music scene and much more.
Kyiv Lights Festival
Kontraktova, Mykhailivska, Poshtova Squares, Andriyivsky Descent, Kyoto Park
For three days from 7 pm till 11 pm Ukrainian and foreign video artists will transform buildings into the huge spectacular screens with fantastic video projections on Kontraktova, Mykhailivska, Poshtova squares. Within the festival, you will also be able to enjoy a light show in Kyoto Park and Andriyivsky Descent from 8 pm till 11 pm. Admission is free of charge to all the festival venues.

Pechersk Landscape Park (25 Lavrska Str.)
A grand exhibition of tulips called “A Mystery of Easter Egg” is being held in the Pechersk Landscape Park. You can see more than 200 species of tulips planted in the area of 2 thousand sq. m. As this event coincides with the celebration of Easter, 10 decorative Easter eggs were installed, and you will be able to trace the symbolism of “pysanka” in all the exhibition.

Spring landscape – 2017

“Spring landscape – 2017” is a landscape design competition dedicated to the Year of Japan in Ukraine. It will gather the talented Ukrainian designers, artists, and florists who are ready to implement their boldest ideas. The program includes show-competition “Japanese motifs in the Botanical Garden”, land art competition “Dialogue with Nature”, and numerous thematic lectures, seminars, master classes, and presentations.
Street Food Festival “Gastrovision”

Street Food is a large gastronomic platform for the representatives of food business. This time the theme of the festival is the national cuisine of the countries-participants of the Eurovision Song Contest. Also, there is G48 market – a new format of the market where more than 150 Ukrainian producers will present their unique collections.
Europe Day (12am – 10pm)
This year the annual Europe Day will be conducted within the 62nd Eurovision Song Contest on May 14. The program includes the official opening ceremony; the performance of the musical composition that is associated with each country of EU; broadcasting the video-presentation of each country of EU (the main historical places, cultural sights, events etc.) from the huge screen; European city on Sofiivska Square where you can find individual location of the EU member countries; the great concert with the participation of creative teams – Eurovision guests.
Ukraine’s Vyshyvanka Day

Ukraine’s Vyshyvanka Day annually celebrated on Sofiivska Square is a national holiday which salutes the traditional costume. In order to join, just put on your favorite vyshyvanka and come on the central square of the country at 18:00 in order to become a part of a big people chain from Sofiivska to Mykhailivska Squares. Visit this event and get excited by the strong power and beauty of Ukrainian embroidery!
Street music day
Landscape Alley, 32 Vozdvyzhenska
Street Music Day is one of the greatest volunteer projects in the world that was launched as a musical flash mob by Lithuanian musician Andrius Mamontovas in 2007. Annually hundreds of musicians, professionals, and amateurs go outside to play music and sing songs. On May 20 the fourth Street music day will be held in Kiev (from 12 am till 10 pm) and other 36 cities of Ukraine.
UAmade Fest: Beer culture

The beer festival “Pyvkultura” is designed to change the conception of consumption of beer. Numerous Ukrainian breweries (from large to local ones) will be presented here so you can compare manufacturers and choose the beer of your choice.You can also participate in thematic degustations, competitions, and workshops and just have fun visiting different interest zones: “FUN”, “BEAUTY ZONE”, “MARKET” etc.
Kiev invites all tourists and Kiev citizens to celebrate its 1535-th birthday in the last week of May. Numerous events will be organized during these days in the city center, such as the official opening and Tango Day on May 25, Latina Day on May 26, Waltz Day on May 27, Gala concert and Jazz Day on May 28. In addition, you will be able to enjoy the play of Symphony Orchestra, exclusive art object “Cake of Desires”, food court area and lounge area.

Performed by the symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine the concert “W.A. Mozart” offers to the audience such outstanding compositions as Symphony No. 23 in D major, K 181; Symphony No. 27 in G major, K 199; Symphony No. 38 in D major (“Prague”), K 504. The Kiev Palace of Sports (1 Sportyvna Square)
A solo concert of Jamala, the winner the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, is expected to be the greatest one performed by the singer. The new concert program called “I Believe in U” is based on the materials of her international album “1944” released by Universal Music Group and other best songs of the singer. The visual design of the concert will be created by Front Pictures company that helped Jamala to prepare her triumphal performance for Eurovision 2016.
Opening of the beach complex “Sandali”
“Sandali” is a full beach complex that in located on Trukhaniv Island – the unique place stated in the heart of Kiev but far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Richard Hawtin will give a concert in Kiev within PlayDifferently tour that, in addition to the Ukrainian capital, will take place in a limited number of cities in Europe and the world. Richard Hawtin is a Canadian electronic musician and DJ and three-time DJ Awards winner, author of 6 albums, an infinite number of singles and mix-compilations.
Electro-Rock-Opera “Orpheus and Eurydice forever”

On May 15 and 16 there will be a premiere of a unique musical project, created in the innovative genre of electro-rock opera by outstanding Ukrainian composer Mykhaylo Brunskyy. The audience will have opportunity to hear and see the musical performance that corresponds to the best World contemporary art canons. The great versatility of this work is achieved through the participation of soloists with extraordinary voices: tenor alto, tenor, mezzo soprano, soprano, basso profundo, treble, accompanied by symphony orchestra, academic choir and DJ.
Romeo and Juliet

Romeo and Juliet is a classical ballet in 3 acts by Sergei Prokofiev and Sergey Radlov based on William Shakespeare’s play “Romeo and Juliet.” The ballet premiered on the Kiev stage in 1971 and in 1991 the Kiev performance of the ballet “Romeo and Juliet” was recognized as the best interpretation of this work and awarded with a medal according to UNESCO decision.

The premiere of opera “The Barber of Seville” by Gioachino Rossini will take place in May in the Kiev National Academic Theatre of Operetta. Sentrum (11 Shota Rustaveli Str.)Skryabin is a famous Ukrainian band founded in 1989 by Andriy Kuzmenko that changed Ukrainian music and sinks into the heart of every listener. Their songs remind and make you think about the main important things in life, “to smile when it is fun and do not hesitate to cry when it is sad.” On May 21 at the club “Sentrum” you will hear the outstanding songs of the band “Scryabin.”
Black Art Jazz Collective

In May Black Art Jazz Collective will play for the first time in Ukraine in the Caribbean Club Concert-Hall. The starry jazz band is represented by six talented African-American musicians that became really famous around the world and successfully promote the recognition of African-American cultural and political figures.

A famous Ukrainian folk singer-songwriter Khrystyna Soloviy together with her outstanding band will organize a concert in Kiev within the all-Ukrainian tour. Her debut album “Zhyva voda” (2015) is a Ukrainian folk performed in the modern arrangement, the unique combination of pop-rock, blues, and jazz.

Opera “Tosca”(a premiere)

Tosca is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa. This joint Ukrainian-Italian art project in cooperation with the Embassy of Italy in Ukraine and the Italian Cultural Institute in Ukraine was launched on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome and of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Italian Republic and Ukraine.

On April 14 at 3 pm. there will be the opening of the exhibition “Angels of Ukraine” by the outstanding painter from Lviv Nataliya Kuriy-Maksymiv who is famous in Ukraine and abroad for glass painting technique. The idea of creating a series of “Angels Of Ukraine” that now consists of 25 paintings appeared in 2014 during the the “Euromaidan”. The 25th annual Chestnut Run
I would totally agree that the Chestnut Run is the most massive sports and charitable event in Ukraine. Traditionally it takes place every year since 1993, opening the festivities of the Day of Kyiv. The funds raised during the charitable event will be directed to purchase of the necessary equipment and medical supplies for the Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery MoH Ukraine. The event is aimed at strengthening the positive attitude to a healthy lifestyle and developing the tradition of mutual help and volunteering. Start: 10 am.
