Holi Festival Of Colours 2017 in Ukraine

Celebration of Independence Day

In Kiev there are numerous events that are timed to the 26th celebration of Independence Day of Ukraine: the All-Ukrainian festival-contest “You are in my heart, Ukraine” (when: 23-24/08, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.; where: Pechersk Landscape Park), the Fair of Folk Art (when: 24/08, 12 a.m. – 8 p.m.; where: Ivan Honchar Museum (19 Lavrska Str.)), the Arts & Culture Campaign and Concert with the participation of creative teams (when: 24/08, 1 p.m. – 10 p.m.; where: “Rakushka” open-air stage at Mariinsky Park), the Arts & Culture Project “Kiev Festive” (when: 24/08; where: Victory Park (2 Perova Ave.)), the International Intercultural Festival “Dialogue of Cultures” (when: 25/08, 7 p.m.; where: “Rakushka” open-air stage at Mariinsky Park). Also, in the morning, you can watch the military parade on Khreshchatyk Str. and Maidan Nezalezhnosti.

This year Ukrainian Kennel Union has the honor to host the Euro Dog Show 2017 and welcomes the guests from all over the world to the capital of Ukraine – Kiev. The worldly known and honored experts from different countries will be examining the exterior of the best dogs of Europe during four days. The national breed shows and dog sports championships will be held together with the Euro Dog Show 2017.

Marilyn Manson

The Kiev Palace of Sports (1 Sportyvna Square)
Famous American rock band Marilyn Manson will come to Kiev to present the band’s tenth studio album with the working title SAY10. As Manson said: “It’s not very much in any way like The Pale Emperor. It’s pretty violent in its nature for some reason, and it’s not emotional in the same way. It’s got a chip on its shoulder. I can’t wait for people to hear it. I think they’re going to be quite surprised.” The concert in Kiev is expected to be the еpatage show with unpredictable scenario.

In August you are invited to visit Jazz on the Beach concerts and enjoy the informal atmosphere, summer lightness, and live music. While on August 03 you will have an opportunity to dive into the delicate sound of JAZZ performed by the National Symphonic Band of Ukraine, on August 10 be ready to explore a genre of Brazilian music Bossa Nova (a lyrical fusion of samba and jazz) performed by Ruslan Egorov Quartet.

Tom Harrell Trip

Caribbean Club (4 Symona Petlyury Str.)
Welcome an American jazz trumpeter, flugelhornist, composer, and arranger Tom Harrell with his band Trip in Kiev. During the concert the musicians will present the entertainment TRIP to the world of jazz variations. Apart from Top Harrell, the band also consists of saxophonist Mark Turner, bassist Ugonna Okegwo and drummer Adam Cruz.

INDIGO (3 Kudryashova Str.)
A famous Ukrainian pop-rock band “SKAI” organizes the concert dedicated to the Independence Day of Ukraine. For 16 years the band has been presenting quality music and lyrics to their numerous fans. During the concert, the audience will hear such well-known hits as “Best druh”, “Tebe tse mozhe vbyty”, “Ty spodobalas’ meni”, “Struna”, “Idealna”, and many others.

Amon Amarth

Sentrum (11 Shota Rustaveli Str.)
Amon Amarth is considered as a Swedish melodic death metal band formed in 1992 that mostly deals with Viking mythology and history. In 2016 the band released the tenth studio album Jomsviking that tells the story of a young man who is in love with a girl but she’s being married off. He accidentally kills a bridegroom of his beloved one. So this is a story about the internal struggle against the injustice of this world. On August 28 you will have the possibility to hear this and other live hits of the legendary Vikings Amon Amarth.

Art-zavod Platforma (1a Bilomorska Str., Kiev)
On August 28 there is a Ukrainian debut of the English indie rock band alt-J formed in 2007. The band’s debut album An Awesome Wave was released in May 2012 in Europe and in September 2012 in the United States and won the 2012 British Mercury Prize. Their second album, This Is All Yours, was released on 22 September 2014 and went straight to the UK number one. Just seize the chance to visit their concert in Kiev this summer!

Beekeeping-2017 Fair (Summer)

Ukraine is the largest and fastest-growing European producer and exporter of natural honey due to the high quality and comparatively inexpensive price of Ukrainian honey ($3–$8 per liter). The annual Beekeeping Fair will be organized in August in Kiev where various types of honey from all regions of Ukraine, the pollen basket, honey in honeycombs, bee-glue, royal jelly, beekeeping equipment, wax, beehouses, bee treatment, literature
will be presented. Within the fair, there will be scientific and practical conference “Actual problems of beekeeping industry and possible ways of its solution”.

Open-Air Dance classes by La Rêverie

Starting from July 18 every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. there is a course of open-air dance classes conducted by the studio of ancient dances La Rêverie that has been organizing such events in Kiev for 7-8 years. Come here and you will be able to learn British-American contra dance for Salon in the style of wild west, based on the works of Mark Twain. The classes will be conducted as a preparation for the great party with thematic dances, competitions, and refreshments that are planned for September.

Vyshyvanka Run 2017

Rusanivka Quay, the Monument to Mykola Gogol
On 24th of August, there will be one of the most patriotic running events in Ukraine – Vyshyvanka run. For the fourth year in a row, this special day unites all runners to celebrate the Independence Day of Ukraine. This event is possible due to the idea of the inspirer of Vyshyvanka run and Master of Sports, International Class, Alexander Kuzin and the president of NGO «Sports fans federation» Natalia Galatsan. On Rusanivska Quay, professional athletes, amateur runners, children of preschool and school age, dressed in Vyshyvanka T-shirts will overcome the chosen distance (from 100 m for the youngest runners to 10 km for experienced athletes). You will be generously rewarded with water and fruits at the finish.
Distances for running:
100 m – children aged to 6 years old
500 m – children aged 7-10 years old
5, 10 km – adults


September 10
Intersport Run UA 2017

1 Hrushevskyi Str., European Square
For the third year in a row, a large-scale running event Intersport Run UA 2017 will be held in Kiev. About 7.5 thousand racing fans will meet on European Square on September 10. Professionals and amateurs with different training backgrounds will choose one of the distances: 10, 5 or 2 km. Those who pass the distance of 10 km will receive a unique memorable medal. If you want to participate with friends or like-minded people, gather a team and register for relay race where everyone crosses the distance of 5 km. You can also toe the starting line as a family and run the distance of 2 km altogether. Small champions can be registered for children’s distances of 500 or 1000 m. Choose what is the most suitable for you and get ready for victory!
